Blooms of Hope: MVCSG’s Annual Daffodil Fundraiser
Spring is nearly here, and Martha’s Vineyard is once again set to celebrate a cherished local tradition—the annual Daffodil Sales Fundraiser hosted by the Martha's Vineyard Cancer Support Group (MVCSG). Taking place this Saturday, March 15, this vibrant event supports Island families navigating the financial and emotional challenges associated with a cancer diagnosis.
Join the Community Effort
From 9 AM until noon—or until the beautiful bouquets sell out—community volunteers will be selling bright daffodil arrangements at Reliable Market in Oak Bluffs, Cronig’s Market in Vineyard Haven, and Stop & Shop in Edgartown. Each bouquet purchased for $10 directly benefits MVCSG’s mission, providing vital financial assistance to cover medical and personal expenses not addressed by insurance.
The Rich History of the Daffodil Tradition
The daffodil sale tradition, Daffodil Days, first began over thirty years ago as part of the American Cancer Society’s nationwide efforts to symbolize hope, renewal, and resilience. The initiative has inspired communities across the country, including our own MVCSG, established locally in 1986 by Kate Healy and Annemarie Donahue. Since its founding, MVCSG has passionately continued this tradition, turning the simple gesture of selling flowers into a powerful symbol of community support and hope.
Your Contribution Makes a Difference
Every bouquet you purchase symbolizes hope and directly supports families on Martha's Vineyard facing the difficult journey of cancer treatment. Participation in this event is more than an act of charity; it’s a demonstration of community solidarity and care. Your support sends a strong message of hope and encouragement to your neighbors in need.
For those unable to attend but who still wish to contribute, donations are gratefully accepted via the MVCSG website.
The O'Hanlon Group Supports Our Community
At the O'Hanlon Group, we value the resilience, generosity, and compassion of our island community. Events like the MVCSG Daffodil Sales Fundraiser reflect the heart of Martha’s Vineyard, showing how we come together during challenging times. Our very own Susie Wallo is involved with pre-sales every year, working with Vineyard businesses who often make large donations. Here she is, delivering 318 bunches to various locations, including 35 bunches going to Windemere to cheer up patients.
Join us this Saturday, and let's continue growing hope and solidarity, one bouquet at a time.
