Peaceful Priester’s Pond in West Tisbury

When my clients are getting ready to sell their house, I always ask about the area surrounding their home. What makes it special? What have they enjoyed most about living there? As I was recently listing a house on Old Courthouse Road, my client talked about Priester’s Pond and the close proximity to his house. While I’ve been on the Island now for over 23 years, I’d never heard of this spot. When he said it even had a waterfall, I was intrigued.

I thought it was going to be a hiking trail (it’s not), but instead, it’s more of a peaceful oasis just off the road. If you’re heading to dinner at State Road restaurant, you may want to stop here before or after to check out the sunset from the bench overlooking the pond. Or even on your way to Menemsha (via North Road), pull off just as you turn onto North Road from State Road in West Tisbury. You’ll see a bike rack and a little area to park on the side of the road with a trail entrance on the left. The short trail meanders around a small loop from the road to the pond and back.

Here’s a quick video of this lovely Land Bank trail from my family’s recent visit.
